I have things set up to shutdown during a power outage. When the power comes back they boot up as expected but this keeps sending a signal to the VM running on the ESX host that the power is still out and everything just shuts back down. I have contacted customer support 3 times regarding this. No one calls back. I sent a FB message. No reply. I would NOT recommend this company or product.

In my case I’m using it on a CyberPower OR2200LCDRT2U UPS system. I would give it 5 stars, but it has two major drawbacks:1) It’s quite expensive just to be able to remote into a UPS that I was hoping would already have that built-in capability.2) It’s TLS 1.1, meaning that chrome shows it as an insecure connection.Honestly, even given the price, if a firmware updates comes out that updates the TLS version – I’d up this to a 5-star rating. You know what you’re paying for, and it just works.

So the item is pretty worthless to me. I’m giving the vendor a week to correct the problem and then the whole thing is going back. This is the second issue I have with this vendor. So at this point, I do not know whether the unit works or not. It is just consuming wattage.

Used the standard default credentials and got in.Very easy to install (plug and play) and SNMP shows everything you need.Can’t complain.To those users who say ‘it doesn’t work’ Make sure that it’s compatible with your UPS!

Mine got a DHCP address immediately. The web interface is a bit lacking, seems to be a front-end to a telnet/SSH session. Only one person can be logged in at a time, and as far as I can tell there is no way to get a SNMP like status over XML/JSON which would be a great feature.I also had troubles setting up authenticated SMTP email notifications, it wouldn’t work with the same settings I used on other devices (like the Synology DSM). If I can get that to work properly, I’ll raise the rating.But this does the job, and the SNMP works with Synology’s network UPS monitoring support.

This means it will not work with the previous generation of CyberPower UPS devices, which has a ribbon cable and a corresponding white plug, instead of the integrated plug at the back of the slot in the UPS unit for the card to slide directly into. (The older generation being what one would probably buy this upgrade for, since new ones you’d either just get the one with the included interface to begin with, or take a while to decide that yeah, maybe you’ll send the money on the upgrade.) Might have been awesome, guess we will never know. And, apparently no way to find the one we need, either. Not sure if this is on CyberPower or Amazon.

As such, this card is priced about 4x higher than it should be, based on the components. But there is no alternative.That said, it does the job well. Easy hotplug installation, easy setup, straightforward configuration. The software GUI is a little aged, but perfectly acceptable from a functionality standpoint. I’d still highly recommend this as a result.

But the firmware is outdated and updating it is a pain. The device also doesn’t support current versions of ssh which makes things even more painful.

This was a good buy in my home lab case where my rack isn’t easily accessible and I’d prefer something both more integrated and ready-to-go than what I could build myself. Business use? No brainer – Buy it now.Compatible across a range of their gear – Lets you reuse it if you upgrade to one of their other models that supports the card.Web UI is adequate, real power of these cards comes from SNMP though! Firmware updates seem to be relatively current but it’s not like you’d have one of these on a public net anyway.
