Not legal for most installations. Inferior product.Unfortunately I did not see this until I had used one drum and now I will have to pull all those cable runs :(This cable is copper clad aluminum (CCA) and to quote:”CCA cable is not approved for Ethernet networking usage by any regulatory body. Any supposed compliance claims are false. Only stranded or solid copper conductor cables are approved for Ethernet data cabling. Further, the National Electric Code (NEC) does not provide for the use of CCA Ethernet cable in commercial structures due to safety issues. Therefore, installations using CCA are flatly illegal.”I tested this by stripping back some wire and scraping it with a blade and sure enough it is indeed aluminum core. The images on this product are misleading, you have to read the description in detail to see where they slip that wording in.I feel totally ripped off.

Not copper but it works for my reolink security cameras. Such crappy cat 6 compared to the real stuff.No flexibility. Terrible coiling of wire after ita pulled out of box.Will not buy again. Just buy some cheaper real cat 5e or 6.I only did low voltage for 3 years in IBEW and never saw cable this crappy. And you cant scrap any becauae ita aluminum.Get what you pay for and thought I’d give it a shot. It’s what is to be expected.

The product title should clearly specify this.I don’t know why Amazon didn’t like this review before but to be very clear this is a review of the PRODUCT.I ordered 4 boxes for a cable job. I get that I’m buying white label from Amazon, not name brand from Graybar, so I expected things like harder pulls, flimsier boxes, etc. Once I got it I noticed the boxes themselves are pretty much all black with no area to write run numbers on them. I went online to write a review mentioning that and only noticed then, from other reviews and Q&A, that this is CCA (copper clad aluminum), not solid copper. This should be clearly disclosed in the product title, you shouldn’t have to look at the Q&A or other reviews. CCA cable is not suitable for a lot of applications and tends to break with hard pulls.

I took the chance and I am happy to say that it was the best risk taken. The amount of wiring ran was over 100 for a client and the wiring was used for Ethernet only. Anything that was POE related, we ran a different kind of cable (TrueCable brand). The project was a success and these cables stayed true.Because of the last minute change(s) by the client, we were forced to use these cables for POE desk phones, and still no issues.Overall, CCA is not regulated and isn’t recommended by many professionals, including me, but when you have a budget to fulfill sometimes you “may” need to take risks.The client understood the risks and we all understood the risks, but it did the job. We ordered 8 boxes in total and the delivery was on point.I would not recommend this for PoE, but it is doing the job in my case.See the catch 22 here? 🙂

But then you (probably) wouldn’t be buying CMP cable and legit CMR 5e cable would be way cheaper. But obviously if you’re specifically looking at plenum cable you’re probably doing this for a “professional” installation (or at least for money) and you absolutely should not use this.There’s a reason it’s the same price as 1000 ft of reputable CMR cable.
